Mit Wonder Woman #1 von Brian Azzarello und Cliff Chiang folgt die 7. (bzw. 8.)
Once again, Wonder Woman #1
Today is the debut of the new 52’s Wonder Woman #1. This is the fourth official #1 of the series. Here is a look back at some at those number one issues and some unofficial “firsts” as well
That’s the first cover appearance of Wonder Woman in comics so a good place to start, but that’s Sensation not Wonder Woman.
And it all starts here with the first issue of Wonder Woman.
There would be a changes over the next 176 issues. The writers would change, the cast would change and Wonder Woman’s look would be tweaked. But in issue 178 there was a major change when DC depowered Wonder Woman and got rid of her superhero costume.
This “Diana Prince” stage would last until issue #204 when she would get her powers and costume back due to complaints by Gloria Steinem who put Wonder Woman on the cover of the first issue of Ms. magazine.
Wonder Woman finally ended her first run as part of Crisis on Infinite Earths with issue #329
She would return months later in a complete reboot by writer/artist George Perez.
The Perez origin would remain the basis of continuity for next 25 years. In 2005, however, at the end of another crisis DC ended the run at issue #226 and gave her a new number one in a “soft” reboot by TV writer Allan Heinberg. He would integrate parts parts of her character from pre-Crisis (or more accurately the 1970s TV show) including a secret identity and the spin to change costumes.
This run would last 43 issues. To celebrate Wonder Woman’s 600th issue, DC renumbered the series, changed her costume to include pants and brought on the fifth writer in 5 years.
This run would have two head writers over 14 issues.
And now there is another number 1
How long will this last until a new number one? As a Wonder Woman fan, I hope for a very long time.
